Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the safe, optimum operation of the casting services in the Orthopedic Surgery department through adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring a high quality of service to patients.
Key Accountabilities
1. Work ranges from routine emergency casting to complex and precision use of a full range of materials for the design and construction of custom-built casts
2. Assist the Orthopedic Doctor in applying all types of casts, splints, immobilizers, and soft braces.
3. Removal of plaster casts from hands, legs, arms and feet for patients.
4. Work closely with other Orthopedic Department Registered Nursing and Medical staff and participate in the structured tuition of casting principles and skills
5. Setting up the plaster room at the beginning of clinic and tidying plaster room at the end of the clinic
6. Performs other duties as assigned
