Key Result Areas:
Provide shoeing services to all kinds of horses e.g. racehorse, sport horse, endurance horse etc
Achieve the yearly target profit (estimated target is 550 - 600k on annual basis)
Provide trimming and advanced shoeing to ensure that all farrier services requirements will be attended
Submit records and report accidents to the lead podiatrist to keep track of the horse history and for future reference.
Train any newly hired farrier assistant.
Assist the lead podiatrist in keeping the inventory for all equipment, supplies and sundries to avoid shortage of stock.
Assist in unit materials management for proper maintenance of the equipment.
Manage his/her own schedule, shoeing and trimming horses as required.
Do ambulatory work as primary focus, and other clinical work.
Learn more about therapeutic and remedial farriery.
Adapt and react appropriately in difficult situations.
Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Diploma of the worshipful company of farriers or applicants' country equivalent, and professional level of horsemanship.
2-5 years of relevant full-time work experience in a similar role.
Ability to make a variety of therapeutic shoes and understand the biomechanics of how and why they are used.
Ability to professionally discuss radiographs with veterinarians.
Inventory organizational skills.
A fast learner and able to take instruction as required.
Open to learn new techniques in shoeing and developing new methods of shoeing that overcome issues that might arise.
Confident in dealing with owners and stable staff.
Excellent ability to handle and deal with the horse.
Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
Proficiency in MS office applications.
