The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in managing financial activities within a real estate and property management system. Responsible for overseeing accounting processes, financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, the Senior Accountant ensures the financial health and accuracy of the organization's real estate portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for real estate portfolios.
Generate financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and industry standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets for real estate properties.
Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide variance analysis.
Assist in forecasting future financial performance and trends.
Accounting Operations:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
Tax Compliance:
Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
Prepare and file tax returns for real estate entities.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the real estate industry.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
Analyze real estate investments, ROI, and profitability of properties.
Provide insights and recommendations based on financial performance metrics.
Audit Support:
Assist in annual financial audits and reviews conducted by external auditors.
Prepare audit schedules and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, and tax regulations in Qatar.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
