Job Description
Revit Draftsman is responsible and specializes in the application of building science and technology to all company projects. He should have a specialist skills enabling him to work within a managed design process and develop
technical knowledge and expertise to provide innovative solutions and should recognize the significance of the pre, during and post aspects of the project.
As a company with over 20years of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment of brand solutions, providing a full range of design, engineering and services to the built environment, you are expected to work with less supervision, meeting requirements on time, striving your best in a challenging phase and work on a team to meet the common goals.
Through all stages of a project you will be part of a Design Team in conjunction with a lead designer and your role will include:
Project inception
Reviewing the needs of clients and users and agreeing the project brief
Recognize the significance of the design stage and how it underpins the assigned project
Assist in evaluating and advising upon environmental and regulatory legal requirements affecting the project and obtaining initial approvals
Producing feasibility studies with the design team
Assessing survey and scoping requirements and producing surveys and scoping Project planning
Contributing to project briefs and design programmes
Liaising with and producing documentation for statutory approval authorities if required
Design process
Preparing and presenting design proposals using CAD techniques and traditional methods
Working within a team to produce the detailed design process and coordinating detailed design information
Developing templates, researching problems and producing, developing and advising upon innovative solutions to facilitate and automate processes
Producing, analyzing and advising upon specification, materials selections and detailed design solutions in relation to performance and production criteria
Liaising with and producing documentation for statutory approval authorities
Producing, managing, controlling and integrating design and production information
Contract management
Ensuring continual compliance with design, statutory and professional requirements
Programming schedules and undertaking stage inspection with other members of the design team
Gaining feedback from and de-briefing client and user
Appraisal of building performance in use and producing, developing and maintaining maintenance management information systems
Evaluating upon refurbishment, repair, reuse, recycling and deconstruction of projects/site.
Professional practice
Assist design team in providing professional guidance and decision making to clients, users and design/construction teams
Undertaking structured Continuing Professional Development
CAD/Revit Duties
To prepare and compile CAD/Revit files to surveyors/scoping requirements, including plans, sections,
details and all associated information in accordance with the Company CAD/Revit manuals, BS1192, PAS1192-2 etc.
Be expected to develop individual skills within the parameters of the Group CAD software, including 3D visualizations as required.
To file all CAD/Revit related information in accordance with the Company CAD/BIM manuals.
To issue drawings as requested by drawing Building Surveyors/Project Managers.
To be able to work under own initiative within a multi-discipline environment, and to manage a variable and changeable workload.
To be able to plan workload and ensure information is produced within parameters set out by the project lead.
To maintain and develop CAD/Revit library of standard information required for all projects including, CAD block, Revit families, standard details etc.
To assist with updating and maintaining quality control and CAD/BIM standards in line with the company’s requirements.
To attend CAD/Revit user group meetings to advise issues, problem solving tools that can use by other users for delivery of CAD/Revit files etc.
General
Will report to the designated Line Manager on a daily basis, as to resource availability, progress of projects.
To manage the flow of workload within the CAD team and assist in the management of available resource for the preparation and delivery of CAD / Revit deliverables, document control and quality checking of allinformation.
Working to deadlines & Fee scales determined by others
REQUIREMENTS:
Previous Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in AutoCAD/Revit with advance training/experience in current AutoCAD
Software;
Experience in using Microsoft Office products, Project and NBS specification manager to aid the management and administration of projects.
Technical Knowledge and Skill
Minimum 5 years of experience in CAD/Revit capability in a recognized Industry Standard Format including
3D graphics and presentation relevant basic software.
Ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of accurate drafting methods, layering, links, dimensioning
and detailing, model space/paper space, viewports and scaling;
Ability to demonstrate using advanced Revit BIM tools in different disciplines. An understanding of creating
families and manipulating of parameters and schedules is a plus;
Update models to reflect as-built conditions.
The ability to work under own initiative, and to work under pressure.
The ability to follow instructions and to direct others. Understanding of building design and principles.
Willingness to learn, have strong organizational and analytical skills;
Self-motivated; take pride in work and accept responsibility for his/her professionalism;
Excellent collaborative and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
Capable of building trusting relationships, ability and willingness to work independently or in a team atmosphere;
Good understanding of Revit as a BIM tool to create templates, layouts, BOQs, tables, material schedulesetc…
Knowledge in reverse engineering projects is a plus
Complex geometry modeling for massing and site is a plus
Educational Requirements and Professional Qualifications
Autodesk AutoCAD/ Revit competency with advance training/experience in current AutoDesk software
Bachelor’s or college degree in CAD or drafting studies is preferred
Experience in using and managing different systems
Other:
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Good English communication skills and flexibility in a dynamic role within an established team.
Ensure the integrity of the business image both internally and externally
Commercial awareness and a flexible attitude to both the type of work undertaken and the level ofresponsibility accepted.
You will report directly to the dedicated Line Manager.
May require to travel locally and/or abroad.
Perform other duties as assigned
